Richard O'Barry (1939-) is the founder of the DolphinProject.org , an organization dedicated to educating the public about the plight of dolphins in captivity. For several years, he's been running a campaign against the multibillion-dollar dolphin-captivity industry, informing the public about what really goes on at dolphin shows. He's also featured in the Academy Award–winning documentary The Cove, which brought to the world’s attention the tragedy of dolphin slaughtering practices in Taiji, Japan.
lyrics
There in the cove, a secluded bay
No-one can enter, the signs say „keep away”
You’re in harm’s way
There in the cove, their crimes they hide
Got to unveil – the mission’s suicide
If you’re not qualified
Outrage
Outcry
Don’t turn
Blind eyes
The water is red, the water is red
Raise the alarm, there’s still danger ahead
The water is red, the water is red
Future is still hanging on by a thread
There in the cove, the world can’t ignore
A sound wall put up, they’re herded into the shore
And soon they’re no more
There in the cove, the cove of Taiji
Ten thousands slain or taken for captivity
So mercilessly
The water is red, the water is red
Raise the alarm, there’s still danger ahead
The water is red, the water is red
Future is still hanging on by a thread
There in the cove, the remaining few
Freak show attraction is what they’re turned into
So much pain to go through
There in the cove, the cove of Taiji
It takes Ric O’Barry to make everyone see
And to stop the cull finally
The water is red, the water is red
Raise the alarm, there’s still danger ahead
The water is red, the water is red
Future is still hanging on by a thread
